When you go into a Subway, you expect the people working there to help you pick out some toppings on your sandwich, wrap it up for you, tell you to “Have a nice day!” But something far from the expected went down at a Subway outside Seattle.
According to Seattlepi, a manager of a Subway in North Bend found a surprising item in the woman’s bathroom while he was cleaning it: a mobile phone that was recording under the sink.
Considering Subway’s past with illegal activity, due mainly to the once idealized Jared Fogle who dropped serious pounds eating strictly fast food sandwiches, even a whiff of illegal recordings seems a bit too familiar.
When the manager played the recording it was just a video of some khaki pants and black shoes. The same outfit 20-year-old Daniel Devlin was wearing that day.
“It’s you,” he said to Devlin (called out!). Apparently then, Devlin immediately began apologizing to the manager, but was fired on the spot. The manager had remembered that Devlin seemed overeager and willing to clean the woman’s bathroom in the past.
The police took the phone and questioned Devlin the next day. Seattlepi reports that “he had seen something similar on the internet and just tried it at Subway,” and that it was a “mistake.”
When police went through the phone, they not only found video footage of three women using the toilet in the restroom, but (to make matters worse) they also found explicit images of minors in s*xual positions or engaging in s*xual conduct. Devlin was charged with both voyeurism and second-degree possession of child pornography.
I’m not sure what it is about Subway, but some of the people involved with the business have had some real issues with the law. If you recall, Fogle was arrested last year for paying to have s*x with minors and obtaining child pornography. The two stories have a chilling amount of parallelism, but it is good to see that both have been served by the law.
